The statistics of counterimages
Taking the numerical version 
of the symbolic
matrices 
allows the number of counterimages to
be counted, namely by summing the matrix elements of the product to be evaluated. By
invoking the appropriate matrix algebra, various quantities of statistical interest can be
obtained; the most important among these are averages and variances.
