The option E places a small square of
two-dimensional evolution in the A-panel. Altogether, nine squares are shown
before the display begins to repeat; if the automaton is not two-dimensional,
then the excerpt shown is a two-dimensional slice through the field of the
automaton.
Both displays can be interrupted by a keypress; otherwise they continue
through one full cycle before stopping.
